iPhone Duo AI features: what Apple announced
Apple announced iPhone Duo on September 9, 2026. Its first foldable iPhone has a 7.6-inch inner display and a 5.4-inch outer display. Apple lists preorder opening on October 16 and initial availability on October 23; check the local store for your country. The announcement describes Siri AI in beta, personal context and screen awareness, plus side-by-side apps.

Judge the workflow, not just the screen
A bigger workspace could make it easier to compare an answer with its source. Our example: keep a meeting note open alongside a draft summary, then verify every action item against the original. Seeing both at once may reduce switching, but does not establish that the summary is correct.
Before paying for a new device, write down a task you already perform and what currently slows you down. If your problem is inaccurate answers, a larger display does not solve it. If your problem is moving between a reference and a draft, the layout could be relevant. These are evaluation questions, not measured performance claims.
- Can you complete the task in the apps you actually use?
- Can you trace generated claims back to the source?
- Can you edit or export the result without losing formatting?
- Does checking the answer take longer than doing the task yourself?
Personal context requires deliberate boundaries
An assistant that uses personal context deserves a different evaluation from a calculator. Decide which accounts and information are appropriate for the task before making them available. For work material, follow your employer’s approved-tool rules even when the assistant is built into the phone.
Use an invented appointment or a nonsensitive note for the first trial. Define a clear expected result: a draft with the correct time, place and recipient. Inspect the output before any external action. Do not interpret a confident response as confirmation that a message was sent or that a calendar entry is correct.
Our iPhone Duo privacy checklist separates data processing from accuracy and sharing risks.
What requires testing after release
We would want to test correction effort, app compatibility, accessibility, battery use during sustained tasks and behavior when a request is ambiguous. A product announcement cannot supply those results. Nor does a demonstration establish reliability on your own documents.
Before ordering, check the local price, return terms, supported features and software requirements directly with the seller. Keep a copy of the offer. Features described as beta or forthcoming should not be the sole basis for an expensive purchase.
The useful question is whether the device improves a repeatable task you care about. That can be answered with a controlled trial and a clear acceptance checklist, rather than with the excitement of a launch.
